@Angela it's pretty easy with adults especially guys who don't care as much... but might hard with a squirmy kid.

Thanks Rachel! You should totally try to do it, too. It's fun.

I agree with Angela, your hair always looks great. I've always been jealous...like the wind could blow it around and you could toss it back and it would be perfect. Effortless.

I like it straightened and uneven! I might do it when my hair gets a little longer. This comment was absolutely no help, I know :)

You can cut guy's hair? Man, I wish I knew how to cut Max's hair. Jamie's looking to get his hair cut short, but he doesn't know what cut to get...

You are so talented and self-sufficient, Carey. It's crazy all the practical stuff that you know how to do.

Thanks Angela!
I need to see another picture of yours... I can see the layers in your fb pic, but I want another one. :) It looks great from the one I saw! And, it always takes a week or two to grow into a new hair cut I think.

I don't know how I started or learned to cut it though in college I would always cut my boy roommates hair, and then I started cutting my then boyfriend's hair, and my mom's. I just looked to see how stylists cut hair when I got mine done... never at a straight angle...always down in to the hair. You make less mistakes this way, and if you do make a mistake it doesn't show as much.

Then I think I tried to have AJ do it once, and I didn't like where it was going so I grabbed the scissors from him and did it myself. Since it's always been short I just cut at an angle around the back of my head, and put in layers so mistakes wouldn't show up.

You have so much hair, though I wouldn't dare cut yours. I'd probably do it to blunt. Thicker and Thinner hair are hard to cut.

how do you cut your own hair... especially, how do you reach the back?

i spent $50 the other day getting my hair cut and now I kind of hate it...

where did you learn to do it yourself?

also, your hair always looks super cute. no matter what color or cut you have, you are always beautiful... so really, it doesn't matter what you do with your hair.

I honestly never knew that beans OR peaches made you itch so bad! It's amazing. We both jumped in the shower when we were done.

I could go back and look at my journal entries from that time but I'm pretty sure there were none... I was too busy planning my move to Chicago.

Angela - The secret about veggie plants is... they don't REALLY require that much work. Hell, even I can't keep houseplants alive. Like Carey said, throw down a few cucumber seeds along a fence or a trellis and see what happens.

Carey and I are CERTAINLY still in the beginner class when it comes to vegetable gardens. Our biggest challenge is simply keeping up with everything. I'm great at setting everything up and can keep a routine for at least a few weeks and then I falter. The powdery mildew is something we should have tackled as soon as we saw but it took me WEEKS to do anything about it and by then it was too late.

... with that being said. Take a seed, put it in the ground somewhere, water it once a day and see what happens. The simple act of harvesting a cucumber from your one and only veggie plant, cutting it up and eating is enough to inspire even the worst gardener to attempt it again the following year.

Good luck!

Carey! I just saw your DIY Save the Dates on the Intimite Weddings Blog. I'm actually doing much the same thing for my Save the Dates, but hadn't thought about stamps -- what a cute and practical idea! I tried to find your email, but couldn't, so I decided to post my question here. What size stamp did you buy for the self-inking postmark stamp? The ones on the website that look like the right size only allow 3 lines of text and I really want 5....just curious as to how you pulled that off. Please email me back and let me know! Thanks so much!
