So, after further searching on Snippet and Ink, I think we might need to change our color pallete!!
Look at this….

Brown, cream, and orange is too static… why not throw in some yellow, and shades of orange?!
Need to talk with Nathan about this. heehee
If Nathan and I were getting married in the spring this would be my dream wedding.

my favorite flowers are daffodils.
and, while Nathan and I have picked colors (rust, chocolate, cream) I’m having a hard time really popping them like yellow does.
oh well. in the end who cares about colors?
I haven’t posted a picture of my ring on my hand on here yet. My brother is going to be taking our wedding photos, and engagement. I’m lucky he’s up here now so we can practice in front of the camera, but it’s been so cold. There’s not too many places to go for nice indoor photos, but if it doesn’t warm up this week maybe we’ll go to the Garfield Park Conservatory.
Yesterday it ws 3 degrees but sunny so I snapped a few pictures.

So Aron officially taught me how to operate this ole sewing maching on Sunday. We took a trip to Joanns and I got a lot of thread, and stuff to start with, too. I have tons of scrap material so my first project was a pillow with pink thread. My second was an oven mit that turned out entirely too small. I learned my first lesson = always measure and pin!!
This is my ten minute project I did tonight. Valances!
They are a little too small length wise for the window but I’m proud of them. I was folding napkins at work today, and decided I liked them enough to make a curtain out of them. I paid $8 bucks at Anthropologie for two napkins and now our Kitchen has a facelift!

I bought this today:

And, I love it! It makes me happy.
I have named you queen.
There are taller ones than you. taller.
There are purer ones than you. purer.
There are lovelier than you. lovelier.
But you are the queen.
When you go through the streets
no one recognizes you.
No one sees your crystal gown, no one looks
at the carpet of red gold
that you tread as you pass.
the nonexistent carpet.
And when you appear
all the rivers sound
in my body, bells
shake the sky,
and a hymn fills the world.
Only you and I,
only you and I, my love,
listen to it.
sigh.
Also, speaking of poetry I just loved the poem written and spoken by Elizabeth Alexander after Barack’s inauguration. What an amazing day that was. There have been some mixed reviews out there about it, but I thought it was simply appropriate and humble like Obama’s message. And his speech… tears.
My second favorite day. I think.
I’m watching Inagural coverage, and waiting for Aron to come over. We are going to have breakfast, coffee, and try to get one of the two sewing machines we own working. I want to make pillows, curtains, or any thing really. I don’t know how to sew! I think it will come easy I just need to learn how to thread the machine.
I’ll post anything I make if it works out!

Have I mentioned that wedding planning is a lot harder and stressful than I ever imagined? It’s for silly reasons, really. I’ve read through a few blogs and articles and such about why in the world two perfectly in love people would be so tense by planning a beautiful day of love. They give perspective, but I guess every couple has to find their approach. Nathan and I are working on it. It’s tough, though.
We have to remember a few things every day:
1. We both have the best intentions on making our wedding day 100% us, fun, and memorable.
2. We need to keep it simple.
3. We need to remember not everything will be as we wish it would be.
I think if we continue to do that we can edit out a lot of stress.
You think?
The other day I passed one of those gaudy wedding dress/prom stores. The ones with the giant poufy tulle infused dresses in easter egg colors. And, I laughed. More like a chuckle really. I was slightly intrigued about what would happen if I walked in. I thought it might be fun, and a few days later I still do.
Since I already have my dress, and since evertime I even look at dresses I am drawn to ones that are very similar to mine I figured I have nothing to lose. Wouldn’t it be a blast? I just tried to find a few dresses I might want to try on, but that was hard, too. Let’s see….

This picture was taken the same time last year that we are getting married this year.
Does that make sense?
Basically, it’s gorgeous! Look at what we all have to look forward to! A season - fall!!!

Aron just showed me this so, so cute image of tin can lanterns!!

I love them. I wonder if we could do a combination of these and mason jars. Or maybe mason jars on the tables, tin cans hanging.
See at work we always talk about picking one-two ideas and just going with it as far as great display goes. Strong. Make it big, carry it through, impactful. But that gets hard to do when you want to do so many things and you only have one chance to do them!!!
I also have to start thinking about how much it’s going to cost to get everything shipped up to New Hampshire. eek. And, if I even really need lanters? I mean, I think we do, but we’re going to have an early afternoon wedding, and then a party till the cows come home. We’re going to need light once the sun goes down, right?
