It taste’s like something!

We picked our first vegetable from Front Yard Farm last night!

picked our first cucumber!

A sweet slice cucumber!

picked our first cucumber!

Nathan peeled it, and sliced it for our garden salads (this is a staple dinner on hot nights when I don’t want to cook - fresh greens from the garden, and a mix of what I have on hand from the farmer’s market plus a farm fresh boiled egg)! Nathan took the first bite of the cucumber, and I watched to see how his face reacted to the taste. He smiled, “Wow it actually tastes like something.” Like, something? “Yeah, it tastes like something instead of just tasting like water!”

So I popped in a slice, and realized it did taste like something.
It tasted like a cucumber fresh picked minutes ago from our garden! Delicious, really.

    Kerry,
I love that you blog your life. I would like to do this also. My big problem is that my blog is connected to my business and I don’t always want customers knowing that I am blowing off a day instead of getting their work done. Lol. It seems every time I mention on Facebook that I am doing something for myself, 2 people say, “oh by the way will you get something done for me” and it just pisses me off.
Those cucumbers look so good. And I am so inspired by your hard work and weight loss. You go girl, you look fabulous!!

    Hi Aunt Mary!

Thank you for reading and for the encouragement!!

You should blog about your life but it does come with a “price” I guess. It seems odd that people wouldn’t understand that you have a business and a life, and you should theoretically be living more than working. I’m sure you probably work more than 40 hours a week, and since you make your own schedule you should be able to take the afternoon off if you want.
But I would love to hear about what’s going on in Connecticut, and the business, and family life! It would be a good read.

I hate the guilt that comes along with that though. Do you know how to put your facebook profile on limited view to certain people? Say there are 5 people who are always annoying you by asking you to do stuff for them all the time you can limit what they can see on your profile. I can show you how if you want.

Peter and I had the same exact conversation about the romaine lettuce! I thought it tasted unlike any other romaine I’d had when I realized the difference was that the romaine I buy tastes full of water. Makes since as they keep them wet to stay alive while transporting.

Real romaine, cut minutes before, is so much more real and delicous!

Janet - yum! I can’t wait to start some real heads of lettuce. I bet it’s amazing. My cut greens are still growing even in this heat which is amazing considering they typically bolt from hot temperatures.

Did anyone come pick up a few heads of romaine lettuce from you?
